Week 28 MLS Betting Slate: Two Games, Two Very Different Stories

The MLS betting slate for the week of September 28 features two confirmed matchups, and they could not look more different from an odds perspective. One is a near coin-flip where line shopping pays off. The other is one of the most lopsided MLS lines of the season. Here is what the numbers say about both.

Wednesday, September 30: MLS Odds and Betting Analysis

St. Louis City SC at New York Red Bulls | 4:30 PM PDT

St. Louis City SC is the consensus road favorite, sitting at -110 to -114 across most books. New York is the home underdog at +225 (DraftKings) to +260 (Fanatics). The draw ranges from +300 to +335, with Kalshi offering the best number at +335.

At -110, the implied probability on a St. Louis win is roughly 52%. That is barely above a coin flip, and it reflects how genuinely even the books see this matchup. MyBookie is the only book posting a spread, listing it at -0.5/+0.5 with both sides at -118. That setup signals the books see no meaningful performance gap between these two clubs.

On the total, all three books posting a line agree on 3.5 goals, and the lean is toward the under. BetMGM has the under at -135, MyBookie at -133, and Kalshi at -118, making Kalshi the most attractive number for the under. The over is available at +104 on Kalshi, the only book offering a plus-money price on that side.

In a near-even game, line shopping matters more than usual. The gap between DraftKings' +225 and Fanatics' +260 on the Red Bulls represents real money over time. If you like New York at home, Fanatics is the clear place to grab that number.

Thursday, October 1: MLS Odds and Betting Analysis

Sporting Kansas City at Seattle Sounders FC | 6:30 PM PDT

If Wednesday's game is a toss-up, Thursday's is the polar opposite. Seattle is priced from -185 (Kalshi) to -238 (FanDuel), with the consensus cluster sitting between -213 and -227. That range implies a Seattle win probability of 68% to 70%.

Sporting Kansas City is a steep road underdog. DraftKings has them at +425, BetMGM and MyBookie at +450, FanDuel at +490, and BetRivers as high as +525. The implied win probability for SKC runs from roughly 16% to 19%, putting them at about a one-in-six shot to take three points on the road.

The draw is priced between +380 and +426, with Kalshi again posting the best number at +426. Even the draw is viewed as only slightly more likely than a Sporting KC outright win.

If you are considering SKC as a long-shot play, BetRivers' +525 is the clear outlier. At that price, the implied probability is around 16%, and if you believe their true odds are closer to 20%, there is a mathematical case for the bet. But road underdogs of this magnitude cover infrequently, and this number exists for a reason.

On the total, all seven books posting a line agree on 3.5 goals. Kalshi offers the best over price at even money (+100), while BetRivers has the tightest under at -127. Most books cluster near -110 to -116 on the over and -116 to -120 on the under, so the total market is reasonably balanced despite the lopsided moneyline.

For bettors hesitant to lay a big number with Seattle, the spread market is worth a look. LowVig.ag and BetOnline.ag both post Seattle -1 at -135 with SKC +1 at +105. Getting Kansas City a goal of cushion at +105 is a cleaner value proposition than fading the Sounders on the moneyline outright.
